JADE Software Developer

Who Are We?

Simplifi is a fast-growing SaaS workforce management platform, trusted by 2,300+ organisations
across New Zealand – including NZ’s largest, Foodstuffs. We make rostering, payroll, and compliance
simple, accurate, and stress-free for essential industries such as healthcare, aged care, early
childhood education, hospitality, and retail.

Born from StaffSync, a platform trusted by New Zealand schools for over a decade, Simplifi combines
a proven foundation with fresh innovation to transform how organisations manage their workforce.
We have strong traction in New Zealand and are now focused on accelerating local growth, with plans
to expand into the Australian market in 2026.

The Job

Does getting stuck into solving complex business problems excite you? Do software glitches and bugs
annoy you? Do you wish for better user experiences?

We are on the lookout for a fantastic Software Developer to join our team - someone who can show us
their potential and add value to both our team and our software.

The Simplifi team is dedicated to delivering high-quality software that is a delight to use. We look
beyond the obvious requirements and, by working closely with our clients and team members, ensure
we deliver the right product for our clients. We aim for a product that not only meets but exceeds
expectations.

You will be responsible for ensuring the software not only does what we think it should do, but also
what the client expects it to do - leaving them believing in the power of good software again.
This role will involve the design, development, testing, and maintenance of our JADE software and
web applications. We are a small team, so you will gain exposure to everything and be required to dive
into a wide range of skills and responsibilities. You won’t be stuck in one role thinking, “Gee, I like the
look of what they’re doing - I wouldn’t mind trying that.”

Help, training, and mentoring will be provided to bring you up to speed, but you need to be keen to
learn, keen to get involved, and keen to make a difference.

About You

We are looking for a clever, fast-thinking individual who can take an analytical approach and think
outside the box to identify issues in code or system usability. Beyond software delivery, you are
excited about working smarter and exploring new approaches. You will have the opportunity to utilise
your expertise to grow your own skill set while also helping to shape our product.

We work across a range of industries with clients of all types and sizes, each with unique
requirements so you need to have a lot of space in your head! You will recognise that what works for
one client may not work for another, and that fixing something for one client may break it for someone
else.

We need an analytical and enquiring mind with a strong ability to retain information and apply it
effectively, someone who can recognise patterns, develop robust code, and put logic in place to
prevent issues before the client has even considered them.

You will need an understanding of how the software is used in the real world and ensure it is fit for
purpose. We are looking for someone who recognises that quality must be built in from the start, and
that good development practices (clean, clear, well-structured, well-documented code, with testing
happening in parallel with development) are essential to achieving this.

Skills and Expertise

• Creative thinker with a passion for high-quality outcomes and a high attention to detail
• Proactive approach, striving to understand why things behave as they do, challenging the
status quo, and seeking ways to improve and refine processes
• Top-notch analytical and communication skills, with the ability to adapt to and accept
alternative approaches and ideas
• Ability to communicate with team members and external clients/end users in a professional
and respectful manner
• Enthusiasm to learn and grow as part of a dynamic team, collaborating with others to refine
product requirements and remaining open to learning about different industries, clients, and
approaches to work
• Critical thinker, able to devise alternative ways of achieving outcomes for the benefit of our
clients
• Ability to multitask and remain receptive in a changeable work environment
• Disciplined approach to process, with the ability to plan and manage work to meet objectives
in a timely and efficient manner

Your skills matter, but so does your personality. We value team members who bring positivity,
collaboration, and a growth mindset to our workplace. If you enjoy working with people, you’ll fit right
in.

We currently use the following tools and technologies, so exposure to these would be beneficial:
JADE, HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap, and Apple & Android apps.
You should have proven experience in a JADE software development role (ideally 2+ years). However, if
you know JADE and genuinely believe you have the skills and attitude described above, we would still
love to meet you - a great attitude matters more than experience.

Are You Interested?

If you read this and thought, “Yes!”, we would love to hear from you.

Please submit your CV and cover letter to stephen@simplifi.work

We can only accept applications from NZ-based candidates.

This is a Christchurch-based role and is not suitable for remote workers.
