McKenzie Healthcare (MHC) is a privately owned aged-care facility in Geraldine, providing 24-hour Rest Home, Dementia, Hospital, Palliative and Respite care for older people. Guided by its core values of kindness, compassion and patience, MHC provides safe, welcoming and person-centred care that is community-based, whānau-focused and supports the wellbeing and quality of life of every resident.
MHC describes itself as a small-to-medium-sized organisation. Today, approximately 97 people use Simplifi for workforce management, including rostering, scheduling, leave management and timesheets.
The Challenge
Before moving to Simplifi, MHC had a workforce management platform in place, but it was outdated and had never been fully implemented across the organisation from the beginning. That meant the team was not able to make full use of its capabilities.
In practice, much of MHC's workforce management relied on manual processes. Rosters were managed in Excel spreadsheets. Hours were captured on individual timesheets. Sick leave, extended hours and other staffing changes were recorded in a diary.
With a system that was only partly in use and the rest of the work spread across spreadsheets, timesheets and a diary, MHC started looking for a different workforce management solution.
